Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning
There are 3 degrees of carbon monoxide poisoning, which are characterized by the following poisoning symptoms:
1. Light degree of carbon monoxide poisoning. Then you get a headache in the temporal and frontal areas, often surrounding character (like a «hoop»), dizziness, nausea. There has been vomiting, slight visual impairment. Patients complain on difficulty breathing, congested pipes, dry cough, unpleasant feelings in the heart. But there is no loss of consciousness. The contents of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood is 15-30%.
2. The average level of carbon monoxide poisoning. There is nausea, shortness of breath, feeling the shortage of air. Violation of mental activity appears with excited or thunderstruck, including coma. There are pathological reflexes, miosis, anisocoria. Note the appearance of skin hyperemia. Be sure to at least short-term loss of consciousness from 1-2 to 20 min. The contents of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood – 30-40%.
3. Severe degree. Coma of varying depth and duration from several hours to days or more. There were convulsions, pathologic reflexes, paresis, paralysis. The skin affected: at the scene, they may be scarlet color, when in hospital in a state of hypoxia their color changes to a cyanosed. Due to the development of acute nose and throat disease, and trachea-bronchitis, growing violation of breath until to the stop. On the part of the SSA – left ventricular failure signs. Changes in the ECG are not specific and in most cases show signs of myocardial hypoxia and the violation of coronary circulation: decreasing R prong all aside, the interval is shifted to the ST isolines, tooth T becomes diphasic or negative. In the blood appears metabolic acidosis. The contents of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood – 50-60%.
